NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 96V185000 Potential Number Of Units Affected: 36,000 Summary: Certain buckle assemblies were produced with a "Buckle base" that was improperly heat treated. This can cause the "buckle base" to be brittle and fail to comply with FMVSS No. 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies". Consequence: In the event of a collision, these seatbelts may not restrain an occupant, incrasing the risk of injury. Remedy: Dealers will inspect the rear seat belt buckle assemblies and replace any buckles with lot numbers 023 and/or 029. Notes: Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time, should contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
