NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 03V223 Potential Number Of Units Affected: 5,319 Summary: Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 212, "Windshield Mounting." The windshield may not be properly secured to the vehicle body due to insufficient adhesion between the paint applied during the second-stage painting process and the paint applied during final-stage painting. If the windshield is not properly secured, it may separate from the vehicle during a crash, which could result in the ejection of unbelted occupants, increasing the risk of severe injury or death. Remedy: Dealers will inspect these vehicles. Vehicles that are found to have insufficient paint adhesion will either have the problem remedied by repainting, or will be replaced, or repurchased and destroyed. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification is expected to begin during July 2003. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-934-0934. Dates of Manufacture: December 2001 - February 2003 Manufacturer Recall Number: EC |

|
NHTSA CRASH TEST RESULTS: Frontal crash ratings: Driver: * * * * Passenger: * * * * Side crash ratings: Driver: * * * * * Rear Passenger: * * * * * Results based on a 35 MPH frontal crash and 38.5 MPH side crash. Results are reported in a range of one to five stars, with five stars indicating the best crash protection for vehicles within the same weight class. This test used driver and passenger belts and airbags. NHTSA ROLLOVER RESISTANCE RATING: * * * The Rollover Resistance Rating is an estimate of your risk of rolling over if you have a single vehicle crash. It does not predict the likelihood of that crash. The Rollover Resistance Rating essentially measures vehicle characteristics of center of gravity and track width to determine how "top-heavy" a vehicle is. The more "top-heavy" the vehicle, the more likely it is to roll over. The lowest rated vehicles (1-star) are at least four times more likely to roll over than the highest rated vehicles (5-stars). |
